Location and transport accessibility:

The town of Assenovgrad (180 m above sea level) is situated in the western part of the Upper Thracian Valley. It is 169km southeast of Sofia, 19km southeast of Plovdiv .

Assenovgrad is known as “little Jerusalem”, because of the great number of monasteries, churches and chapels in the region.

Assenovgrad is one of the oldest towns in Bulgaria. Within its surroundings more than 100 Thracian mounds were found.

The town has a favourable geographic location. This fact explains its ancient name of Stanimaka, meaning fortified narrow place.

In 1230 Ivan Asen II fortified and expanded the Stanimakas fortress, this is the reason for the fortress be renamed to Assenova Fortress, and the town – to Assenovgrad .
The town is famous for its wine production.

How much money I need to spend a nite in bungalov or hotel in complex 40 izvora and will there be a problem to find a room?

If you want to travel to PLOVDIV or ASENOVGRAD by Train you can check this usefull page
http://bdz.bg/   - Bulgarian state railways

Here you can check  for your Departure station - Sofia, Bourgas , Varna ,Rousse , Plovdiv...

I have to tell you that this is one of the most cheapest way to travel.

And one more time to remind you - "Mati Zemlya" fest is placed at 6km from Asenovgrad (the road to Kardzali city) and is extremly easy to find the place from Asenovgrad.

Today i asked on Bus Staion “Rhodopes” about the linies :

All buses to  Kardjali from this station can stop you at the "40 Sources" (the palce) , just ask the driver to do that. And this is the perfect way to come to the fest with a bus from Plovdiv

“Rhodopes” – Macedonia Str., phone: +35932 779267, 777607 services the region of the Rhodope Mountains Assenovgrad, Bachkovo Monastery, Smolyan, Chepelare, Pamporovo, Devin, Kardjali, Haskovo.

Bus Station "Rhodopes" is on the back of Central Railroad Station Plovdiv.
